“Encounter, exchange and sharing characterise my dance and my approach as a choreographer” Kader Attou

A WILLINGNESS TO SHARE FROM THE BEGINNING
The Accrorap Company and its director, Kader Attou, have a genuine desire for sharing and transmission, which they implement in various contexts and with partners and audiences of all kinds. During the 13 years he spent at the helm of the CCN of La Rochelle, numerous initiatives were put in place: mediation and awareness projects, artistic education and training on a territory spanning from the nearest to the farthest. Attention was given to the diversity of the territory, contributing to living together, and to the youth. The actions were directed towards diverse audiences: associations, social centers and leisure centers, schools, universities, National Education and Higher Education services, hospitals, the prison environment, theaters, festivals…

TRANSMITTING THE REPERTOIRE
The question of the repertoire remains central to the Company’s project. Hip hop dance is part of a young history where the issue of repertoire did not exist 20 years ago. Today, there is a real repertoire that deserves to live and be transmitted. What happens to a project when different bodies are invited to interpret a choreographic writing? How does it reinvent itself? How does each performer invest in this writing? The transmission of the repertoire is a vast field of exploration, potentially involving a very wide audience, reaching young people on the path to professionalization, amateurs, and children. Transmission projects are offered in the company’s home territory, allowing for local and participative outreach. Excerpts from The Roots are transmitted within the Compagnie Grenade – Josette Baiz in Aix-en-Provence and at the Conservatoire of Chalon-sur-Saône in partnership with the Espace des Arts in 2023. Currently, Kader Attou’s two latest pieces, Prelude and  Le Murmure des Songes, are being transmitted to a wide range of audiences, from dance schools to schoolchildren starting from age 7.
